There were no 'terrorist rooms' but I got the feeling that every officer's eye was that kind of room. the fact that you are an Arab is the fact that you suspicous. I liked your dry answers to the officers' questions. It tells something about Arabs. they are meant to say that we are sometimes obliged to change our tradidions to cope rude people.Mahdouchnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6946153047739784955.post-59955496721881378092011-06-13T11:14:28.828-04:302011-06-13T11:14:28.828-04:30I get the feeling you feel grateful. I felt like I needed no other identity.

When I was coming back to England, my passport was checked twice at Tampere airport in Finland as she was not in the departure lounge with me. I was asked questions why i visited Finland and when. Anyway, it wasn't that bad.

But when I landed at Stansted, England, i had to go through the non-EU counter where i got stuck for no reason. they kept me sitting for a good 30 minutes without telling me the reason. Later, they asked me where I was coming from, why I went, how long did i stay, what i do in England, what I do at the BBC radio, and if i go to the mosque to say friday prayers! I was handed back my passport by the immigration officer who said the new machine-readable passport hasn't got the page numbers on it so we were worried if it was a forged one...but i felt that my walking passport was missing, not the page numbers...Moign Khawajahttp://outernationalist.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6946153047739784955.post-23913516338689371782011-05-13T19:35:37.712-04:302011-05-13T19:35:37.712-04:30Amazing article, but shocking also, first time for...Amazing article, but shocking also, first time for me to know that they ask these unbelievable questions. it is disgusting how they treat people like this and they call themselves civilized!mjalladnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6946153047739784955.post-48514597044497744002011-05-13T19:24:54.510-04:302011-05-13T19:24:54.510-04:30I am Argentine, and had had green cards on two sep...I am Argentine, and had had green cards on two separate occasions, but finally I returned to Argentina to stay, and after 10 years I needed a tourist visa for the US. The question: you don't want to keep your permanent resident visa (trick question, I was obviously not living there) was like the one they asked you about not wanting to move to the US. I had to tread a fine line between what I wanted to tell them and what I thought they wanted to hear. Nasty experiences these are. Most US Americans have no idea this goes on.
